The Eastern European Association for Civic Education announces a competition for the position of national coordinators of EENCE-Eduthon in Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, and Lithuania/Poland.

Applications are accepted until May 31st!

What is Eduthon?

Eduthon is an educational event format aimed at refining the concepts of project ideas expressed by the participants.

EENCE-Eduthon aims to identify and support the best ideas to promote citizenship education and democratic values.

What will Eduthon look like?

Participation in each Eduthon (2 working days) will be attended by ten teams selected on a competitive basis (2 people in each team), which will submit ideas for educational, informational, cultural and other projects in the field of citizenship education.

Teams selected to participate in Eduthon may include NGO and community activists, teachers, students, artists, and others who want to promote citizenship education and democracy in their communities and countries.

In Lithuania/Poland, displaced people from Ukraine, Belarus, and Russia can become Eduthon participants.

During the Eduthon, international experts will help teams refine their project concepts, plan their promotion, and prepare educational and other events methodologically.

Different Eduthon events will discuss the essence of citizenship education and various strategies for promoting it in the region.

Based on the results of each Eduthon, three winners will be selected, who will receive financial support for implementing their projects in their communities (September-October 2024).

Selected teams will hold at least 18 events in their countries (training, film screenings, art events, quizzes, discussions, etc.).

The project’s final event will be a general meeting of the Eduthon organizers and active participants. At this meeting, lessons learned will be discussed, and plans for joint activities to promote citizenship education and democracy in the EaP region will be agreed upon.

What tasks will the National Coordinators perform?

Participation in the formation of an approximate final program of Eduthon (June 2024)

Organization of a national competition of ideas for citizenship education and democracy (June 2024). We expect at least 25 applications per country.

Selection of participants for the national Eduthon (together with members of the EENCE Council): Twelve teams of two people each (10 primary and two reserve teams) must be selected.

Recruitment of national Eduthon experts (2-3 people) and participation in selecting international experts (1-2 people). July, 2024.

Organization of the national Eduthon (organization of travel, accommodation and meals for participants, rental of premises for work, technical support for the event). We expect ten winning teams in the competition for ideas for citizenship education (20 people), and six organizers and experts will participate in the 2-day Eduthon. August-September, 2024.

Information support for Eduthon (preparation of publications for social networks, national media, email newsletters, etc.). From June to October 2024, we expect at least ten publications on Eduthon’s progress and results to be published in each country.

Assistance in organizing events for Eduthon alumni (finalizing the program’s final version, finding bases for holding events, disseminating information, determining participants, etc.). October-November, 2024

Participation in the final event to sum up the results of the Eduthon (3 days, November 2024).

Why is it worth submitting your candidacy for the competition?

You will gain invaluable experience organizing an ambitious educational event with an international team of citizenship education experts.

You will strengthen your distinction and gain contacts/connections nationally and internationally.

You will receive a fee for your work (preliminarily 30 working days). The fee amount will be completed after we sign the agreement on the implementation of the project (preliminarily in June 2024).

Who will have priority in selection?

First of all (but not only!) EENCE members who underwent re-registration on the Network in 2024

Candidates with experience in organizing similar events (including within the EENCE Network)

Candidates representing experienced and reputable civil society organizations in their country who are ready to provide their potential (resources, connections, etc.) for the preparation and conduct of Eduthon.

People who have a good understanding of the context of citizenship education and the specifics of the development of civil society in their country and have good expert connections.

People with a good command of English and Russian for communication purposes.
