This workshop will explore the vital role that educators and civil society leaders play in ensuring students’ mental well-being. In today’s world of increasing emotional strain and social challenges, students need more than just academic support – they require a caring and resilient learning environment.

Together, we will discuss how teachers and active civic leaders can foster a safe space, build emotional resilience, and cultivate a culture of care within educational institutions.

The new database of citizenship education projects available on our website will help you to get inspired by interesting ideas and find partners for joint projects.

You can easily find the information you need by filtering it by country, topic, language, etc.

The database was created as part of the project “EENCE University for Citizenship Education“, which was realised by EENCE in 2023 with the support of the Federal Agency for Citizenship Education (bpb) with funding from the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

EENCE invites you to participate in the quiz “Citizenship Education in Eastern Europe”

During the quiz participants will be able to demonstrate and gain knowledge about the Eastern Partnership, ongoing citizenship education programs in the region and the EENCE Network. The quiz is organized within the framework of the initiative “Civic Education University”. The first stage will be held on November 14-15.

Quiz is an interactive intellectual competition based on the principle of game-study and creative search.

Participation in the quiz is free of charge and individual. At the end of the game, the winners will receive prizes. The winners will be chosen by randomizer among the people who scored the highest number of points.

Answer the questions until November 15 inclusive and don’t forget to check the correctness of your e-mail address so that we can contact you in case of victory. The winners of the first stage of the quiz will be determined on November 17.

A similar quiz was recently piloted in Vilnius during the Citizenship Education Caravan.

Civil Society against War by Rethinking Past Memories: are invited to the presentation of the project results

For several months, experts from Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Ukraine discussed how aducators should respond to the war by reflecting on the past. The project also resulted in educational videos showing real-life experiences of the harmful impact of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

The results of the project will be presented during an online presentation that will take place on November 14 at 19.00 in Tbilisi.

The presentation will be conducted by Tamar Karaia, Associate Professor at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.

The working language is English.

Promoting human rights values through the introduction of HRBA into citizenship education curricula

This is the idea behind another project that was recently one of the winners of a competition of ideas for citizenship education organised by EENCE. The project leader (name withheld for security reasons) tells us more about what will happen in the framework of the project.

Why is this idea relevant now?

The promotion of human rights values in citizenship education in the region has been ineffective due to the influence of communist values and educational culture. This is manifested in the non-acceptance of the concept of human rights by educators, their inability to build a direct link between reality and the values they broadcast in their professional activities. An additional barrier is the constant risk of repression, the fragility of democratic institutions and weak civic participation.

The stagnation of human rights education in the region and the lack of development in this area is evidenced by numerous studies, including those on the needs of civil society.

Therefore, our project aims to increase the quality level of perception of human rights values by people participating in civic and additional education programmes.

How do you see the results of the project?

We plan to create a community of at least 100 educators working in the field of human rights education. To support the community, an online platform and a group for information exchange in one of the messengers will be created.

I also hope that at least 180 people will participate in our webinars and increase their competencies in planning and conducting programmes related to the promotion of human rights.
