Trauma-Informed Approach in Civic Education
The online workshop “Applying a Trauma-Informed Approach in Civic Education” is designed to help educators and civic activists understand how trauma impacts participants in educational settings and how to build a safe, supportive learning environment.
Key goals include introducing the principles of trauma-informed education, developing sensitive teaching practices, and adapting civic education methods to meet the needs of individuals affected by crisis or trauma. Participants will explore essential topics such as: creating safety and trust, emotional regulation in the learning process, preventing retraumatization, and working with vulnerable groups.
Target Audience: Educators, trainers, NGO staff, youth workers, and civic activists working with diverse and/or vulnerable communities.

Speaker:
Nazarii Boiarskyi, human rights defender and non-formal education trainer, Board Member of the NGO “Democratic Initiatives Incubator.”
Member of the Trainers’ Pool of the Youth Department of the Council of Europe, independent expert of the Eastern European Network for Citizenship Education (EENCE), and member of the International Guild of Youth Work Trainers. Co-author of manuals on the trauma-informed approach. Developer of training programs and courses on applying the trauma-informed approach in youth work, civic education, and human rights activities.
