Call for the Cessation of Hostilities Immediately: statement by the Eastern European Network for Citizenship Education (EENCE)
The Eastern European Network for Citizenship Education (EENCE) and Russia (EENCE) calls on the governments of Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as the international community to make conceivable efforts to end hostilities.
As a result of the hostilities, hundreds of civilians and servicemen from both sides have already died and the death numbers continue to grow. All the public institutions of Azerbaijan and Armenia are forced to function under martial law.
We call on the international community, international organizations and, first of all the European Union, to use all the possible opportunities of their political influence to stop the military conflict and resume peace negotiations on the status of the disputed territories, as well as to support the victims of this conflict in all possible ways.
We, as the representatives of organizations and experts working in the field of Civic Education in the Eastern Partnership countries and Russia, realizing the key role of Civic Education in promoting democracy, peace and sustainable development in our region, are expressing our solidarity and support to the civil society organizations and experts from Azerbaijan and Armenia.
We are confident that you are doing your best to ensure that the peaceful negotiations can replace the war and violence.
You can always count on our support!
