histoCON 2022: Call for Workshops
histoCON 2022 is an international history festival organised by the Federal Agency for Civic Education (bpb) and supported by the German Foreign Office.
Currently, the Russian war on Ukraine demonstrates the importance of understanding historical developments and continuities for understanding the present – and that history continues to be instrumentalized to justify war and armed conflict.
In 2020, the pandemic made it impossible to host an in-person meeting. We are therefore all the more excited to welcome about 250 young adults from around the world between 18 and 30 years of age.
Under the claim “Look back, think ahead” they will discuss post-1945 history from multiple perspectives, making use of diverse participative formats.
Wanted: International workshop hosts
In order to provide the widest possible range of workshops, organisators still looking for workshop hosts (no age criteria apply) willing to offer different participative and creative formats. These might include fishbowls, panel discussions, lectures, open spaces, cultural and artistic workshops, excursions, city tours, readings followed by discussion etc.
The workshops need to concentrate on one of the three thematic focal areas of histoCON 2022 – independence/dependence, conflict/cooperation or transformation/continuity – and should particularly include transnational or transregional perspectives.
The working language is English.
Visit website for further information on the thematic focal areas and potential guiding questions.
Workshop hosts are invited to participate in the entire festival, to make use of histoCON 2022 as a networking platform and to develop new project ideas together with other international participants.
Costs for travel, accommodation and meals will be covered by the bpb.
