Artificial intelligence for citizenship education: is it real?
Is it possible to make artificial intelligence an ally of aducators working in the field of citizenship education? The answer to this question will be sought by the participants of another project that has become the winner of the EENCE ideas contest.
Ilya Safronov tells about what will happen within the framework of this project.
I have been teaching for over 6 years. I teach digital skills to children and adults. I am currently studying AI and digital universe design
Ilya Safronov, project coordinator
Ilya, what will happen within the framework of the project?
As part of the project, each team member conducts several studies on a chosen topic.
After that we will publish the results of these studies. And also preparations are underway for the launch of an online course in which each of the team members will have to reveal their topic as part of the training for the test pilot group.
What results are you expecting from this project?
As a result I would like to see a good online course that would be useful for participants of the civic education process.
Why should educators look to the direction of artificial intelligence?
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become a transformative tool across various sectors and education, particularly citizenship education, is not an exception.
AI can significantly enhance citizenship education by making it more personalized, engaging, effective, and inclusive.
It not only supports the logistics of education but also promotes deeper learning, critical thinking, and prepares learners for a society increasingly shaped by AI and digital technologies.
Therefore, educators should embrace AI and its potential to transform civic education for the better.
Who will work with you in the project team?
Our team consists of 9 participants from 4 Eastern Partnership countries: Ukraine, Russia, Georgia and Germany.
Each member was given their own role in the team. We are currently preparing the project for implementation.
“Artificial intelligence as an instrument of citizenship education” project will be implemented in the frame of EENCE activity under support of Federal Agency for Citizenship Education (bpb) and funded by German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
