Title of Program

Survival in societies with a culture of digital isolation and failed public disclosures

Expected results of the Program

FROM FAILED WHISTLEBLOWING CULTURES TO SURVIVING DIGITAL EXILES

Working with short abstracts from literary and biographic narratives -stories about failed war and failed diplomatic attempts, real stories which took place during
– totalitarian regimes of the Soviet and post-WWII times around the world including stories from II War in Japan.
– during middle ages royal history of Sweden, Denmark and the Baltic countries.

Some examples of these stories: Ukrainian women’s contemporary literatures. Holocaust, African American migration, works of Soviet and CEE dissidents, US failures during the Vietnam War, Cold War/undercover espionage both sides US/fSU, East/West Germany, international geopolitics in the Balkans at the end of the Turkish Empire, stories from Vyborg in the post WWI period, stories of exiled and murdered rulers in Sweden. Sources of the narratives – multi-media – TV series, Documentaries, Museum digital collections in addition to literature.

Using effective marketing tools, offer interested war displaced educated Ukrainian-war displaced and affected people and their families an opportunity to meet and moderate sessions reflecting on the stories which will be chosen for every session. The choice will be topical while the stories could be several and the participants will decide what to work with. Secondly increase media literacy level of people facing censorship and high volumes of propaganda in media in EE and the former Soviet Union.

The sessions will have as its aim recognition of all failed actors of the setting in which stories are taking place and facilitate discussion about possible behavioral, organizational and survival strategies in every setting. This will result in providing participants with the space to exist and socialize and share their interests while they are in exile and facing multiple inequalities.

Ideally I would like to collect stories about overcoming nutritional challenges and personal care deprivation during these hard times of war, discrimination and ecological disasters. These stories will be suggested to be shared with the publishing and professional networks I will mention in this application upon consent of the participants when needed.

Finally I would be working towards bringing Japanese memory cultures who were able to learn how Japanese people survived war and nuclear disasters after having totalitarian regime and how they remember these times.

What will be the result of this project? Increased level of media literacy and the feeling of confidence to survive in polarized highly censored environments and solidarity of skilled professionals in EU who feel disappointed by fake EU narratives and promises regarding similar (to EU citizens) economic and social integration rights. At the same time this approach will reduce whistleblowing moods in unsafe non-democratic European countries where civil society and citizenship journalism are persecuted
